WHAT WHY AND HOW
The PURA VIDA FOUNDATION is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to animals, people and the planet. Borne of Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” spirit (Pure Life), our efforts and education/awareness programs amplify the interconnection between animal welfare, environmental protection and the human experience. We focus on scalable solutions and holistic programming that ensure a sustainable future and well-being for all.
Focused on building a next-generation movement, Pura Vida Foundation promotes sustainable lifestyle and consumer choices through corporate partnerships, education, behavior change campaigns and policy advocacy.

Animals are not only our friends - they are our protectors, our healers and our partners in the world we share. HELPING HUMANS IN NEED

Our “Helping Hands” programs are all about helping people in need. We are committed to developing creative community and and economical solutions to a wide range of social problems in Costa Rica. The Pura Vida Foundation provides opportunities to exchange friendship, goods, services, and financial resources for critical needs among different cultures, socio-economic classes, and language groups.
Our vision is to create a better quality of life for all those we work with, supporting at-risk and special needs populations so they may have more choices for their future and fostering greater sensitivity in populations providing services.
PROTECT OUR PLANET
The world is changing. We all know the scary facts. Animal species are disappearing. The Amazons are being decimated again. There will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. It’s sad, it’s upsetting – but our view is that every single one of us can make a difference so that our planet will be here and be healthy for future generations.
We are all doing our best, but we aren’t working together. Environmentalists are struggling to stop plastics from overwhelming our oceans. Animal advocates are fighting to preserve fish species from going extinct. Many of us are making changes to our lifestyle but we aren’t talking to each other.

The PURA VIDA FOUNDATION is a next generation revolution that elevates and unites animal welfare, environmental protection and human experience together in a synergistic movement.

We believe everything is connected so we foster empathy. We educate. We focus on solutions because we envision a kind, thriving, safe world for all beings.
CORE VALUES
We celebrate the connection and interdependence between all living beings and habitats on the planet where we all co-exist. We place our trust in collaboration and transparency and believe that together we can make incremental positive impact on the one world we share.
OUR CAMPAIGNS
Each year we choose several critical campaigns and use our platform to raise funding and awareness for our causes and campaigns. We work hand in hand with our partners to create holistic approaches to tackle tough issues with a comprehensive, problem-solving mindset. In addition to our efforts and program funding, we offer our partners connections and networking with other thought leaders, experts and innovators in the space. Our campaigns are all connected and together they build on each other.
